Since April 1, 2026, CVSky has become the new airline focusing on domestic (inter-island) flights in Cape Verde. With the launch of this airline, the Cape Verdean government aims to stabilize and improve air connections within the country. Reliable transport is essential for Cape Verde. The archipelago consists of ten islands scattered across the Atlantic Ocean. For both residents and tourists, regular flights are therefore crucial to travel efficiently between the islands.
CVSky
A new step for domestic aviation
The establishment of CVSky comes at a time when demand for better domestic air connections is growing. In the past, inter-island flights were not always consistently available. With the introduction of this new airline, air travel between the islands is expected to become more reliable and frequent. CVSky has obtained the necessary licenses to operate commercial flights. As a result, the airline can play an important role in improving accessibility between the different islands of the archipelago.
Connecting the islands
The new airline focuses entirely on inter-island flights within Cape Verde. These routes connect key islands such as Santiago, São Vicente, São Nicolau, Sal, Boa Vista and Fogo. These connections make it easier for residents to travel for work, family visits, or business activities. At the same time, tourists have more opportunities to explore several islands during a single trip.
Fleet for regional operations
For its domestic routes, the airline uses ATR aircraft, a type of aircraft widely used for regional flights around the world. These planes are well suited for shorter distances and can operate efficiently at smaller airports, such as those found on several Cape Verdean islands. Thanks to these aircraft, the airline can offer relatively frequent flights between the main destinations in the archipelago.
Importance for tourism and the economy
Tourism is playing an increasingly important role in Cape Verde’s economy. Islands such as Sal, Boa Vista and Santiago attract a growing number of international visitors each year thanks to their beaches, nature and culture. Better air connections between the islands make it easier for travelers to combine multiple destinations during one trip. This also creates opportunities for tourism to develop further on other islands across the archipelago. Improved air connectivity also stimulates economic activity, as businesses and residents can travel between islands more quickly and efficiently. With the launch of CVSky, Cape Verde is taking another step forward in the development of domestic aviation and the overall accessibility of the island nation.
